COTABATO CITY (Wednesday, August 27, 2025) — Robbers killed a couple in a nighttime highway heist on Monday, August 25, in Barangay Ugalingan in Carmen town in Cotabato.
Senior officials of the Cotabato Provincial Police Office told reporters on Wednesday, August 27, that Jezreel Tua Ramirez, 34, and his 33-year-old pregnant spouse, Jean, were together in their multicab, on their way home from Kabacan, Cotabato, when gunmen flagged them down, took their money and other belongings at gunpoint and shot them both with .45 caliber pistols.
The victims were residents of Purok 7 in Barangay Poblacion in Carmen, one of the 17 towns in Cotabato.
Officials of the Carmen Municipal Police Station said Ramirez died instantly from bullet wounds sustained in the attack.
His pregnant wife died in a hospital the next day.
Municipal officials are helping the police identify the gunmen behind the atrocity, who had escaped before barangay officials and civilian community watchmen could reach the scene.
