A civil engineer was killed while his wife and an elementary school principal were wounded in separate ambush incidents in two neighboring provinces in Region 12 within just two days.
Engineer Kesse Junsan and his wife, Maria, were together on Wednesday morning, August 13, in their black Toyota Fortuner, on their way somewhere, when they were attacked by gunmen in one of the streets in Doña Lourdes Subdivision in Barangay Zone 2 in Koronadal City, the capital of South Cotabato province.
Junsan was declared dead on arrival at a hospital where emergency responders brought him for treatment. The attack left his wife wounded.
Officials of the Koronadal City Police Station had stated, in an initial report to Brig. Gen. Romeo Juan Macapaz, director of the Police Regional Office, that the couple’s assailants had immediately escaped using a getaway motorcycle.
An elementary school principal, Arlyn Alcebar, was also badly wounded in an ambush on Tuesday morning, August 12, in Barangay Agriculture in Midsayap, Cotabato.
Alceber was driving her red Toyota Rush when she was attacked by gunmen near the entrance to the Agriculture Elementary School where she works as principal for more than a decade now.
She sustained gunshot wounds in the upper torso and is now confined to a hospital
Her attackers had also immediately escaped, now subject of a joint manhunt by personnel of the Midsayap Municipal Police Station and local executives led by Mayo Rolly Sacdalan.
