COTABATO CITY (Saturday, August 30, 2025) — Three male grade school children walking along a highway and a driver of a concrete mixer truck all died in a highway accident in Sitio Balagunon in Barangay Managa in Bansalan, Davao del Sur on Friday, August 29, 2025.

Officials of the Bansalan Municipal Police Station and the Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office separately told reporters on Saturday, August 30, that the three children were rammed by the truck that first veered and hit the high side of the highway after its driver lost control of the wheel due to mechanical trouble.

The accident also resulted in the death of the truck driver and left his helper injured, now confined to a hospital.

Officials of the Bansalan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office had reported that the three elementary pupils hit by the wayward truck all died at a hospital where emergency responders and policemen brought them for treatment.

The local government unit of Bansalan had promised to help the families of the three children facilitate their burials.

Local officials had also announced that they will compel the owner of the mixer truck to provide with monetary compensation the parents of the three children.
