Cop in convenience store robbery face raps

The police corporal arrested on Tuesday, August 5, after he robbed at gunpoint P12,000 cash from a cashier of a convenience store in Manolo Fortich town in Bukidnon is now facing criminal and administrative charges.

Relatives and friends of the suspect, Cpl. Danilo Javiero, then assigned to the Malaybalay City Police Station in Malaybalay City, also in Bukidnon province, had told reporters that he is a heavy drinker and is addicted to online cockfighting.

Major Jayvee Babaan, spokesperson of the Bukidnon Provincial Police Office, said on Thursday that the suspect is now locked in a detention facility, awaiting litigation of his criminal offense in court.

Officials of the Police Regional Office-10, which has jurisdiction over Bukidnon province, said on Thursday that Javerio shall be dishonorably discharged from the service for his misbehavior, a serious transgression of the code of conduct of the Philippine National Police for its personnel.

Local executives and probers from the Manolo Fortich Municipal Police Station had told reporters that Javiero, at gunpoint, divested the cashier of a 7-Eleven convenience store in Barangay Damilag of P12,000 worth of cash collections and ran away.

He was cornered and immediately arrested by a police team dispatched to the area after employees of the establishment reported the incident to the Manolo Fortich MPS.

The money he forcibly took from the roadside 7-Eleven branch had been returned to its manager, according to local officials.
